Visa Days Calculator

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about how to calculate your visa days? This FAQ covers the most common topics travelers ask about the Schengen 90/180-day rule, UK visitor stays, and other visa day calculations. Our answers explain how the rules work, how to use the calculator, and what to watch out for if you travel frequently. The information here is based on official guidelines but is provided for general reference only. Always double-check with government sources or embassies before planning long stays abroad.

The 90/180-day rule means you may stay in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. The “rolling” part means each day you stay, you look back over the past 180 days to count how many days you’ve already used. If you reach 90, you must leave and wait until some days from earlier in that 180-day window expire (“drop off”) before you can return.

Enter your past entry and exit dates for each stay in the relevant region (e.g. Schengen, UK). The calculator then sums up how many days you’ve already used within the past 180 days (or whatever rule applies), and tells you how many more days you can stay (if any).

Yes. Your stay is counted from the date of entry up to and including the date of exit. Every full day you are present in the region counts toward your total.

The calculator adds them all together. Even if you leave and return, previous stays within the 180-day window are included in the total number of days used.

The 180-day period is a rolling window. That means if today is “X”, you look back 180 days from “X”, and count all days you're in the region in that span.

Overstaying can lead to fines, entry bans, or difficulties with future travel or visa applications. The exact penalty depends on the country. Always check local rules and try to avoid exceeding the limit.

Usually, transit through an airport where you do not pass immigration doesn’t count. But if you go through immigration, or leave the airport and stay, then those days count. Rules can vary by country, so check the specifics.

Yes. This tool supports calculations for the Schengen Area, the UK, and potentially other regions, depending on available data. (You can check region selection on the site.)

No. The calculator is for informational purposes only. Though it uses official rules, it does not constitute legal advice. Always verify with official sources. Our site has a disclaimer about this.

Visa policies can change. We strive to keep the tool updated with the most current rules. However, official government sources are the final authority. It’s a good idea to check recent policy announcements if you plan long-term travels.

No. The calculator assumes standard short-term visa or visa-exempt rules (like the 90/180 rule for Schengen). If you have a special permit, long-stay visa, or residency permit, its allowances may differ significantly.

The Schengen Area counts as one region for the purpose of the 90/180 rule. So it doesn’t matter which specific Schengen countries you visit — what matters is total days spent in any Schengen country during the rolling period.

Yes. The site is mobile-friendly and works on phones and tablets. You can input dates and see results just as on desktop.

Try to be as accurate as possible. If you misestimate, your total might be off. The calculator result will only be as good as the data you input. If unsure, check your passport stamps, boarding passes or travel records.
